It have had a busy week so far but I still tried to do some stamping. Somebody planning an Old country fair themed birthday party for her daughter asked me to make the party invites. I had a hard time deciding what to make to match the party theme.<br />
The party is for a year old girl. I wanted a card with a rustic/vintage look yet with some childish element to it. How was I going to put all this effect in a 3.5'' by 5'' card? So I put on my crafting cap (or maybe I should say my thinking cap).<br />
I came up with 4 samples for the lady to pick from.<br />
I will show you 2 of the cards today and i will probably show you the third one and one she picked when the party is over.<br />
My first card I have titled BANNERS<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiGoHMnXUOjrOLMm8ZULF-Krz2aLAQwhiyrs9uqsku2RyR4LU1dFIAZ5S9ATXQ9Mt2hUvAWgn1XborHp4r3H-Qoj7-o-WhHUcmf46iFTm8mua90IwfBgTc7pW3mQ6EXlP5mJ9V7-RIqGWA/s1600/IMG_0719.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiGoHMnXUOjrOLMm8ZULF-Krz2aLAQwhiyrs9uqsku2RyR4LU1dFIAZ5S9ATXQ9Mt2hUvAWgn1XborHp4r3H-Qoj7-o-WhHUcmf46iFTm8mua90IwfBgTc7pW3mQ6EXlP5mJ9V7-RIqGWA/s320/IMG_0719.JPG" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">I sponged whisper white card stock with red and brown to give it that rustic look, I also stamped 4 sided sampler on white card stock then cut 6 triangles from each hexagon</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJNzyeVpFz4ltoNoHhcRSHOnS79bssG3_fDO10wgQFmg5zI3nX2elZ14vzrOq4X9iYD0Aqe-PLb7GhbN7U7EJEjEuCCjRWSrnBw7AdxDOGR1OSliE39lnhxU_Jlezd5c20bjE3Uxud-Ic/s1600/IMG_0728.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><br /></a></div>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">This what the card looks like inside.</td></tr>

The second card, I titled My Fair lady.<br />
<table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">I used the all dressed up framelite to cut the image. I sponged it with brown and red.<br />
I also embossed the pink card with the polkadot embossing folder<br />
<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="font-size: 13.333333969116211px;"><br /></td></tr>

There is absolutely nothing wrong with this but I think I should widen my scope by making both masculine and feminine cards.<br />
So! the challenge I gave myself was to make 2 masculine birthdays card, one for a boy and the other for a man.<br />
<br />
For the boy birthday card, I used the now retired moving forward stamp set. I made the waves with the oh whale stamp set. I stamped an additional boat on a whisper white paper,fussy cut and placed it on the card using stampin dimensional.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I don't like leaving the inside of my cards plain so a stamped off the boat before stamping onto the inside of the card.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I made the adult card using the new timeless talk stamp set . I stamped my image, stamped 2 speech bubbles before stamping my greetings in the speech bubbles.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
For the inside, I stamped 3 separate speech bubbles and this is to enable the giver of the card to write short notes or greetings in these speech bubbles.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihJckn-RNxDeE5aPG0gMvG3-sDfPkJtBBF4qh1z0FWyCDtHzRpcsHDo332AcO7JZgeQlJj1tKuhZaG1hz13WTK86rjaulMdznmCGMQB_ZhAdxrxgbTEwHeYM86f8q0c1vAW_jXWdlQKVE/s1600/IMG_0675.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihJckn-RNxDeE5aPG0gMvG3-sDfPkJtBBF4qh1z0FWyCDtHzRpcsHDo332AcO7JZgeQlJj1tKuhZaG1hz13WTK86rjaulMdznmCGMQB_ZhAdxrxgbTEwHeYM86f8q0c1vAW_jXWdlQKVE/s320/IMG_0675.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
With this I can say I have completed my challenge successfully or should I say this marks the beginning of my journey in making masculine cards.</div>

I know someone is going to approach me soon to make a baby girl card so I don't want to be caught unaware. And much more than that I have been itching to use the Stampin Up! baby bundle stamp set I got during the retired item sale.<br />
I cased the baby dresser card from <a href="http://suebayliss.blogspot.ca/" target="_blank">http://suebayliss.blogspot.ca/</a> and <a href="http://www.diaryoftwocraftygirls.blogspot.ca/search?q=baby+card" target="_blank">http://www.diaryoftwocraftygirls.blogspot.ca/search?q=baby+card</a>.<br />

<div>
I thought this will be a good time to share some wedding invites I made using my Stampin Up! products.</div>
<div>
I saw a card on Sandy Hoefakker's blog <a href="http://www.stampinsandy.com/wedding-invitations/" target="_blank">http://www.stampinsandy.com/wedding-invitations/</a>.</div>
<div>
I really loved it and I decided to case the card.</div>
<div>
This is what my version of the card looks like.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I used the red card stock in the Stampin Up! getting started pack as the card base. On top of that I had a grey card stock which I embossed using the elegant bouquet TIEF. The words where printed off on a whisper white card stock which I covered with a sheet of vellum that I embossed using the elegant bouquet TIEF.</div>

Although this stamp is retired , it was top on my list for things to buy from retired products list.<br />
I am happy I did because the stamp set came in handy when 2 friends had babies a month ago.<br />
Today I will be sharing the 2 cards i made using this stamp set.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The paper i used for the cards are from the getting started card stock.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The sentiment i have on the girl card is the greeting at the bottom of the two by two stamp, which i stamped separately on whisper white card stock.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I embossed the baby girl card with the perfect polka dot TIEF while i decided to leave the baby boy card plain.</div>

I thought it will be a good idea to put a little spark to the inside of the card. And this is what I did to add that WAO factor.</div>

I will also like to dedicate this poem to all mothers and mothers to be. You make the world a better place. God bless you all for the wonderful things you do. This is one of the first poems i learnt in grade school. I knew only a few verses of it then but its so exciting to see that it has a lot more verses, It is by a great writer Ann Taylor an it is titles my mother.<br />
<br />
<br />
<span style="background-color: white;"> <u>My Mother</u></span><br />
<span style="background-color: white;">Who fed me from her gentle breast,</span><br /><span style="background-color: white;">And hush'd me in her arms to rest,</span><br /><span style="background-color: white;">And on my cheek sweet kisses prest?</span><br /><span style="background-color: white;"> My Mother.</span><br />
When sleep forsook my open eye,<br />Who was it sung sweet hushaby,<br />And rock'd me that I should not cry?<br /> My Mother.<br />
Who sat and watch'd my infant head,<br />When sleeping on my cradle bed,<br />And tears of sweet affection shed?<br /> My Mother.<br />
When pain and sickness made me cry,<br />Who gaz'd upon my heavy eye,<br />And wept, for fear that I should die?<br /> My Mother.<br />
Who drest my doll in clothes so gay,<br />And taught me <i>pretty</i> how to play,<br />And minded all I had to say?<br /> My Mother.<br />
Who ran to help me when I fell,<br />And would some pretty story tell,<br />Or kiss the place to make it well?<br /> My Mother.<br />
Who taught my infant lips to pray,<br />And love God's holy book and day,<br />And walk in wisdom's pleasant way?<br /> My Mother.<br />
<br />
And can I ever cease to be<br />Affectionate and kind to thee,<br />Who wast so very kind to me,<br /> My Mother.<br />
Ah! no, the thought I cannot bear;<br />And if God please my life to spare,<br />I hope I shall reward thy care,<br /> My Mother.<br />
When thou art feeble, old, and gray,<br />My healthy arm shall be thy stay,<br />And I will soothe thy pains away,<br /> My Mother.<br />
And when I see thee hang thy head,<br />'Twill be my turn to watch <i>thy</i> bed,<br />And tears of sweet affection shed,<br /> My Mother.<br />
For God, who lives above the skies,<br />Would look with vengeance in His eyes,<br />If I should ever dare despise,<br /> My Mother.<br />

The list of retired products will be coming out on the 24th of this month. Please feel free to stop by my website (www.peculiarconcepts.stampinup.net) to check out what you will need. I am really eager to see the list of things leaving but more eager to see the new catalogue.<br />
Have a nice week ahead<br />
